CHARITABLE
ORGANIZATIONS
RESPOND TO TSUNAMI CRISIS
A
wide variety of charitable organizations in Minnesota
and in the U.S. and around the world, are responding to the Tsunami
Crisis in South Asia, and contributions are needed to support
immediate and long term relief. Below are a list of
organizations that are working to help relief efforts in South Asia.

American India Foundation, which has
set up a $1 million matching fund (dollar-for-dollar). The
foundation has sent staff in India assessing NGOs to support.

American Red Cross is working
with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent,
its sister societies and other international partners in the
coming days and weeks on this expansive international relief
effort. It is one of only two relief organizations worldwide that
has been given an "A+" rating by the American

Minneapolis-based
American Refugee Committee (ARC) will focus on providing emergency
relief specifically in southern Thailand. In the coming days and
weeks, it will procure supplies and assess the emergency needs of
the region, with the intent of doing whatever help it can to the

UNICEF is working in all the affected districts of Sri Lanka. With five
sub-offices, UNICEF was able to respond from day one, even though
the UNICEF office in Batticaloa was damaged and the homes of three
