November Forecast Shows Ongoing Budget Shortfalls

The November Forecast shows that Minnesota faces a deficit of $700 million in the upcoming 2006-07 biennium.  The deficit grows to $1.4 billion if you include the impact of inflation on spending.  See the response from the Minnesota Budget Project, November Forecast Shows It's Time for Minnesota to Return to Fiscal Responsibility," which calls for a 2006-07 budget that will: solve the deficit by returning to fiscal responsibility, raise adequate revenues to protect Minnesota's economic future and quality of life, and make strategic investments.
